Two Clubs: The Country Club and the Bay Club

The Colony has two clubhouses. The two-story, 28,000-square-foot Colony Country Club is a great place to relax after a round of golf or to entertain friends. It offers indoor and outdoor dining along with a lounge and bar for casual gatherings.
The Colony Bay Club sits on Estero Bay with panoramic views of the bay, the mangrove preserves and the Gulf of Mexico. From inside, diners can watch boaters and paddlers out on the water.
Championship Golf
Homeowners have the option to join the private club and play the 18-hole championship course designed by U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate. A Private Island Beach Park
The Colony shares Pelican Landing's 34-acre Beach Park on Big Hickory Island. Reached only by water taxi, it offers nearly a mile of white sand along the Gulf of Mexico and is unlike any other community beach park in the area. Paddling and Boating
The Colony also offers a canoe park and boat ramp on Spring Creek, which feeds into Estero Bay. From here you can explore mangrove estuaries, natural preserves and the back bays of Bonita Springs and Estero. Estero Bay is a hidden gem for backwater anglers. For paddlers, the Great Calusa Blueway meets Spring Creek to create miles of mapped, scenic paddling trails.
Tennis, Fitness and Spa

The Colony Spa and Fitness Center sits next to the Country Club. It includes a cardio and weight training room, a group exercise studio, spa treatment rooms, locker rooms with steam showers, a pool and personal trainers who build programs around each member's goals.
Where Is The Colony?
The Colony sits on Pelican Colony Boulevard west of US 41, between Naples and Fort Myers. Southwest Florida International Airport is about 20 to 25 minutes away and Coconut Point is minutes up US 41. Residents also have easy access to I-75, Florida Gulf Coast University, Fifth Avenue South in Naples, the International Design Center in Estero and the beaches of Bonita Beach and Barefoot Beach.

A Local's View of The Colony
The Colony came about at a time when both Bonita Springs and Estero were growing rapidly. The Hyatt at Coconut Point was coming out of the ground. The level of design at The Colony was almost unimaginable. So was the fact that one neighborhood had two clubs.
It was a bold, ambitious era in Southwest Florida real estate. Buyers were even offered helicopter rides to see the property and the bay from above.
I remember touring both the Golf and Country Club and the Bay Club while they were under construction. I have been back many times since, with buyers and for official meetings of the Bonita Springs-Estero Board of Realtors.
I have had the good fortune of listing and selling homes in The Colony for sellers, as well as helping buyers find theirs. One of my favorite neighborhoods here is Las Palmas. I can't quite say why. It feels intimate and cozy, with a richness and texture I love.
A little-known feature is the boat ramp that opens onto Spring Creek. I was a paddler in years gone by and have paddled every creek, river and estuary in this area. I have paddled through here and ridden my bike through the community. The golf course views are amazing. The views from the high rises are incredible.
Selling a Home at The Colony
Buyers at The Colony compare far more than square footage. They weigh the tower or neighborhood, the floor, the view across the bay or the fairways, the walk to the Country Club and the Bay Club and the drive to the water taxi. A residence in a newer tower and an estate home on Tuscany Isle draw very different buyers inside the same gates. Pricing well means knowing exactly how each of those trades here.
